What started as a dream became a reality

As a young boy I fell in love with fishing ever since I could hold a rod.  It started with my dad taking me fishing every time he had the chance.  He bought me my first fishing pole before I was even able to walk.  And the love for fishing increased every single day.

By the time I was 10 I had caught every fresh water species around the San Antiono area. From fishing in friends' ponds to seeking an unfamiliar creek on a road trip, my fishing pole never left my side and boy could I use it. My grandma always told me that I could catch a fish out of a bucket of just water... And, well, for the most part she was right.

My very first guided fishing trip was right here in Rockport, Texas, with my dad and brothers when I was twelve years old. We caught redfish after redfish for four hours straight. My arms hurt so bad I thought they were going to fall off but I was too excited to let anybody know. The memories I made that day planted the seed of a dream. The boat was full of excitement: I will forever remember the smiles on my brothers' faces and looking back at my dad and noticing the tears in his eyes watching his boys experiencing pure joy.  I knew right then and there that this was my calling; it was at that moment that I knew I wanted to be a fishing guide.

Just two weeks after graduation from La Vernia high school, I moved to Rockport and got my captains license to start my dream of being a fishing guide. Within two years I was gaining attention in several different articles in newspapers and magazines. My mission is to give families the opportunity to make lifelong memories through the excitement of fishing: the same type of memories I got to have in my youth. My job is to put smiles on faces and watch loved ones cheer for each other as they are fighting to reel in another fish.

I am now in my thirties with two boys of my own. I take them fishing every time I get the chance just like my dad did with me.  It’s not about the fish that you catch; it's about the memories that come with it.
